Tonight is the 2nd session at the ALC in Nelson's Nest. We will start with a light meal at 5pm.
Truth & Reconciliation-Orange Shirt Day Beading Project w/ Cass Lake Bena School Districts 21st Century Community Learning Center. This event is open to all buildings
05:00 PM - 07:00 PM September 25, 26 & 27, 2024
At the ALC in Nelson's Nest, Room C105
208 Central Ave, Cass Lake, MN 56633, USA
This event is open to all CL-B families and students. The hope is to educate community on what Trust and Reconciliation/Day-Orange Shirt Day is, which is an effort to raise awareness of the inter-generational impact and harm that has been caused to tribal reserves and communities, first nations and families by residential schools and boarding schools. And to remember the ancestors who endured everything those systems brought.
The Orange Shirt symbolizes the stripping away of culture, freedom and self esteem of indigenous children over many generations.
Attendees will watch 2 short videos, participate in open discussion and share thoughts as we transition into the beaded orange shirt pin project. There will be other items and coloring pages for the littles who may not be able to do a pin.
PLEASE WEAR ORANGE, RED OR BLACK TO THIS EVENT.
Each kit will contain enough supplies to make a beaded Orange Shirt pin.
PARTICIPANTS MAY CHOOSE ONE SESSION TO ATTEND
September 25, 26 OR 27, 2024

At the Pine River Backus cross-country meet, excitement filled the air as 10 teams of boys and girls prepared for competition. Cass Lake-Bena’s small but determined team—Zane Halse, Lily Chessmore, Kenny Litzau, and Endonis Goodman—stood ready to take on the challenge.
The first race of the day was the girls' Junior High 2500-meter event, a distance of 1.55 miles. As the race began, Lily quickly found her rhythm, securing fourth place early on. The course wound through the woods, with uneven footing and roots threatening to trip up runners, but Lily remained steady. She finished strong, maintaining her position and earning a 4th-place medal with a time of 11:24, improving her pace from the previous meet from 7:31 per mile to 7:20.
Endonis Goodman, nursing a knee injury, ran her first race of the year and put on an impressive performance. Throughout the race, she surged ahead, passing competitors and finishing with a strong kick, clocking in at 18:26 with a pace of 11:51 per mile.
In the boys' Junior High 25000-meter race, Zane Halse, full of energy and excitement, started fast. Though he fell back a bit as the race progressed, he pushed through to finish with a solid time of 12:04, earning 16th place with a pace of 7:46 per mile.
Kenny Litzau showed great improvement in his pacing from the last meet. Battling the heat of the 80-degree day, he pushed hard, sweat stinging his eyes, and managed to hold off several runners in the final half-mile. His pace for the race was 9:32 per mile, a big improvement from 9:58 a mile from the previous race.

Dear CLB Community, We are writing to inform you of a change in procedure for our CLB Football games. We ask all spectators to sit on the other side of the field. There will no longer be any seating or vehicles behind the home sideline. This decision was made to ensure the safety of players. We also want our coaches to coach and players to learn from the game without distractions. This procedure is in conjunction with MSHSL to allow the best environment for your student-athlete to learn the game. We appreciate your support and hope to see you at the game on Friday against Cherry! If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out!
